Track experience points and plan levels

Experience points drive the pace of a D&D campaign, but the thresholds are easy to lose track of, and building a fair fight for the party is even trickier. This calculator tells you how far your character is from the next level and helps Dungeon Masters budget encounters that challenge the party without wiping it.
For players, enter your current XP to see how much you need for the next level. For DMs, enter your party's size and levels to get the XP budget for easy, medium, hard, and deadly encounters, adjusted for the number of monsters.
Each level has a fixed XP threshold. Reaching level 5 takes 6,500 XP, and level 10 takes 64,000, with the gaps widening as you climb. On the DM side, every character contributes an XP threshold at each difficulty tier, and you add those up to get the party's budget. The twist is that more monsters make a fight harder than their raw XP suggests, so encounter XP is multiplied based on how many creatures are involved. Two monsters worth the same total as one lone foe will hit noticeably harder.
You are a level 4 character with 3,000 XP.
Does it use official thresholds? Yes, both the character advancement table and encounter-building guidelines.
Does it handle mixed-level parties? Yes, enter each character's level individually.
Why is my encounter "deadly" below the monster's XP? The multiplier for multiple monsters raises the effective total.
The D&D 5e XP Calculator tracks a character's experience progress and helps groups plan encounter rewards. It tells you exactly how far you are from the next level and splits encounter XP across your party automatically.
In the Your Progress section, select your current level and enter your current XP total to see how much remains before leveling up. In the Party XP Planning section, choose your party size, pick the challenge rating of the monsters fought, and enter the number of monsters. The tool calculates total encounter XP and divides it evenly among party members.
Does it split XP across the party? Yes. Enter your party size and the tool divides the encounter total so each player sees their individual share.
Can I track multiple characters? The progress tracker covers one character at a time. Run the encounter planner once and apply each player's share individually using the progress section.
